The Department of Communities and Justice, Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) sought to expand and upgrade facilities at Goulburn Correctional Centre including the High Risk Management Correctional Centre (HRMCC) and the Multi-Purpose Unit (MPU).

Project Overview

The project delivers 75 additional HRMCC maximum-security fit-for-purpose beds to provide CSNSW with the capability to safely and securely receive freshly sentenced and remanded maximum-security inmates into the NSW Correctional system. In addition, 56 MPU beds have been added – 46 for high-risk inmates and 10 segregation cells.

The project, which also includes remedial and maintenance works to the HRMCC and Electronic Security upgrades, delivers to the HRMCC/ MPU the infrastructure required to ensure that the centre is capable of supporting increases in the extreme high risk (EHR) inmate population and can maintain its emphasis on the safe, secure and efficient reception, assessment and screening of inmates to the CSNSW system.

Our Role

RP Infrastructure (RPI) provided project management services to the Department of Communities and Justice including stakeholder management, design development, contract administration and construction management.

Key Challenge

RPI successfully supported the delivery of the works despite several challenges including defining the scope of the work required, managing multiple independent stakeholders and working within the correctional centre environment.
