The Department of Education (DoE) sought to develop a new Learning Centre, Home Economics, and Music Facilities at Bribie Island State High School to address both the current and future needs of the region.

Project Overview

The project scope included site works, demolition and disposal of existing demountable buildings, provision of a new music and general learning center, kitchen upgrade works, and associated site and infrastructure works.

Our Role

The RP Infrastructure (RPI) team managed the project delivery, from design development and contract documentation to tendering, practical completion, and final completion. As the Department’s Project Manager, we provided programming, quantity surveying, and contract management (as Superintendent). Key to the project’s success was RPI’s tailored project management plan which accounted for the technical and environmental design challenges inherent in the coastal location. High winds and inclement weather from the north and south required that shielding (provided in the form of weatherproof louvers and screens) be incorporated into the design. Additionally, the plan allowed for staged construction and early decanting of spaces to facilitate the upgrade. We also focused on defining the Department of Education’s requirements and project objectives, establishing an effective process for their delivery, recognising and proactively mitigating project risks, establishing a communication protocol, and managing the project team for the maximum benefit of the project.
