Anglicare – Mount Druitt
Affordable Housing Development
Featured projects
Anglicare is a Christian not-for-profit serving people at all stages of life. Their objective is to address the current demand for affordable housing in the local area. The organisation has a long history in providing accommodation for the vulnerable and aging. Their primary focus is to create an integrated development that brings people together and strengthens the community.
Project overview
The Mount Druitt development, one of several across NSW delivered by Anglicare, was delivered through an integrated housing model including a total of 173 housing units comprised of affordable and strata units, spaced throughout three, eight–storey towers, with a single level linked basement, providing residential and visitor car-parking. The ground floor of the development will provide for internal as well as external community focused services as well as client offices. The building was also designed with multiple community spaces through each tower.
Our role
RP Infrastructure was engaged to provide project management services for the design and contractor procurement stages as well as superintendency services for the construction phase of the project.
Project Management services extended to assisting Anglicare in the preparation and coordination of stakeholders required to undertake proceedings through the Class 1 Appeal, due to a prolonged development approval process. Root Partnerships were instrumental in maintaining Anglicare’s program commitments through effective engagement of local council as well as legal and design consultants.
Key challenge
The Mount Druitt design had already commenced prior to Root Partnerships being engaged. On engagement, our Project Manager undertook a full review of the project design to ensure that any previous design-decisions made provided the best outcome for the development, and from a constructability perspective, to ensure there was no unnecessary cost, time or waste generated.
