In 2015, the NSW Government announced an investment decision for Goulburn Base Hospital and Health Redevelopment. The broad scope of works for the redevelopment included improved capacity through fit-for-purpose infrastructure, comprising of three core components: Enabling Works, Main Works and Final Works.

Project Overview

The key drivers for the project are improving the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery through better patient flows; providing integrated care and elimination of service duplication; and providing asset replacement capable of enhancing functionality and capacity.

The project will deliver contemporary Ambulatory Care services, including Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Oncology, Aboriginal Health, MRI in Medical Imaging, Brain Injury and Transitional Living Unit, HealthShare Laundry and the Central Staff Workspace. Final Works scope also includes the demolition of existing buildings, construction of new carparking, landscaping, refurbishments to enable relocation of clinical services within the existing hospital, and compliance and services upgrades.

Our Role

RP Infrastructure (RPI) is commissioned to provide comprehensive project management and facility planning services to complete Main Works and deliver Final Works. This includes the management of all stages of the works from authority approvals, design finalisation, contractor award and commissioning activities in partnership with our client Health Infrastructure NSW.

Key Challenge

The Final Works component of the project is a complex brownfield redevelopment. Design, staging, decanting and construction are being managed in and around a fully operational health precinct. Our collaborative user group process validated user requirements within the project’s cost and time parameters.

Extensive cooperation and communication between RPI, the Southern NSW Local Health District, Health Infrastructure NSW and diverse stakeholders has been critical to the success of this project.
