The Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment Stage 2 is delivering a tertiary level facility to meet the projected growth and demand in the Macarthur region including a significant increase in paediatrics and mental health services.

Project Overview

Stage 2 of the Redevelopment will deliver a new circa 60,000m² clinical services building and substantial refurbishment to existing buildings. This project will increase the level and number of clinical services and medical specialities available at Campbelltown Hospital allowing the local community to access healthcare closer to home. The redevelopment will also allow for reconfiguration of the existing hospital facilities, improve internal road circulation, car parking and wayfinding facilities across the campus to improve the overall visitor, patient, and staff experience.

Our Role

RP Infrastructure (RPI) was engaged by Health Infrastructure to provide project management services in delivering the final business case, health planning services, preparation of schematic design and a State Significant Development application for the delivery phase. The project management services also included associated documentation and delivery for early and enabling works.

Specific services provided included: the management and coordination of the Capital Consultants, overseeing cost planning, secretariat for the project and governance meetings, preparing project management and governance status reports, managing project user groups, coordination of design management for the schematic design, and preparation of State Significant Development and local government development applications. Root Partnerships was also initially responsible for the contract administration of the new 800-car multi-storey car park within the hospital grounds.

Key Challenge

RPI provided support and advice to the Local Health District Redevelopment Team, coordination of multiple stakeholders and communication activities. Challenges included the coordination and management of more than 150 focus group / project user group meetings with key hospital executives, staff and community members.
