The Glasshouse
Hastings Cultural Centre
Featured projects
Port Macquarie is a major regional centre in the Hastings region of NSW – a fast-growing region with a significant sector of the community involved with the arts. In the 20 years since this project was first conceived, Port Macquarie has matured to expect facilities of a standard equivalent to any major regional or capital city.
Project Overview
The Hastings Cultural Centre provides these much needed facilities for theatre production, arts-based exhibitions and conferences. The project includes a theatre with approximately 620 seats, thrust stage, fly tower and backof- house facilities, a 1000 sqm exhibition gallery with 600 sqm back-of-house facilities, two large meeting rooms for functions and conferences, a common loading dock facility, a restaurant and a combined foyer facing a new civic plaza.
Our Role
Port Macquarie Hastings Council engaged RP Infrastructure to project manage the design and construction phases including confirming the project brief, preparing the Project Management Plan, undertaking design management and project approval, manage the project’s stakeholders and communications, and managing the construction phase.
Key Challenge
The regional location of the project required careful management of the design consultant in order to optimise their impact at key points through the project, whilst at the same time minimising the significant travel expenditure for the client. RP Infrastructure developed a meeting and inspection schedule aligned with the progress of the construction works in order to optimise consultant input.
