Ocean Grove Surf Beach Complex
Redevelopment
Featured projects
In 2017 the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club and the Barwon Coast Committee of Management partnered to plan and deliver the Ocean Grove Surf Beach Complex which comprises a new surf lifesaving club, café and public toilets. The development is a well-located community facility capable of catering for major functions – seating almost 300 people – and provides training and conference facilities for the growing Bellarine Peninsula communities.
Project Overview
The project involved the demolition and construction of a new complex on the site of the existing lifesaving club and café. The new complex, designed by Wood Marsh Architects is a purpose-built facility that supports the endeavours of the club with new club rooms, training facilities, patrol facilities and storage in addition to expanded public toilets. The cafe has been expanded from 231m2 of lettable space to 579m2.
Our Role
Barwon Coast Committee of Management and Ocean Grove Life Saving club engaged RP Infrastructure to represent both entities and to project manage the design, planning permit process and construction of the complex.
Key challenge
The project has required extensive value management through the design and tendering paths of the project. Over half a million dollars of tendered scope was removed from the project to enable it to proceed within budget.
