Fawkner Leisure Centre
Major redevelopment and expansion of Fawkner Leisure Centre
At a glance
The redevelopment of Fawkner Leisure Centre has transformed the existing facility into a contemporary, more accessible and environmentally sustainable community destination.
The redevelopment included:
- A new 50m outdoor multipurpose lap pool
- A new outdoor leisure pool with interactive water features
- New indoor spa, sauna and steam room
- A new entry and airlock
- An expanded gym and group program room
- New café, foyer and reception
- New dry fitness change rooms
- New staff amenities and administration area
- Refurbished community health corridor
- Reconfigured accessible amenities
- Existing 25m indoor pool rectification works
- Existing change room maintenance works
- Installation of new heat pumps to deliver a fully electric facility
The Challenge
The project involved the refurbishment and expansion of an existing operational leisure centre while maintaining continuity of operations throughout the works. The redevelopment transitioned the facility towards fully electric operations and included rectification works to the existing 25-metre indoor pool.
It also delivered extensive new aquatic, fitness, wellness, customer and staff facilities, creating a modern, sustainable leisure centre to better serve the community.
Our solution
Our team provided Project Management and Superintendent services throughout the redevelopment.
Our team coordinated delivery of new aquatic, health and fitness, customer and administration facilities, as well as refurbishment works to the existing community health and change room areas. The project has created a more accessible and environmentally sustainable community leisure centre.
“This project demonstrates how existing community infrastructure can be transformed to meet future needs. By supporting the transition towards fully electric operations while expanding the centre’s facilities, we’re helping create a more sustainable and inclusive destination for the community.”
