Wamuran Irrigation Scheme
Readiness Review
Featured projects
The Wamuran recycled water scheme will provide year-round water security for a number of Wamuran farmers while sustainably managing wastewater from the Caboolture South Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
Project Overview
The Scheme will divert Class A recycled water from the Caboolture South STP to farms, to be safely irrigated onto turf and crops, giving those participating in the Scheme greater certainty for crop planting and enabling them to expand their operations.
The Scheme will not only supply high quality recycled water to growers in our region but will also help us meet our 2050 sustainability goals of zero nutrients into our waterways and 100% reuse of recycled wastewater.
RP Infrastructure provided SME’s to assess the processes used by Unitywater to reach a stage where they are ready to formally award the Construction phase of the contract to the Pensar JV.
The Unitywater Board required confirmation that the best practice processes that they had endorsed had been followed and demanded an independent assessment to be carried out.
The team of 3 SME’s reviewed all the program documentation related to the areas of technical readiness, commercial and contractual readiness and governance structure and capability.
Our Role
RP Infrastructure’s main roles were to support and lead the project and provide subject matter expertise as well as technical services which included government assessment, commercial readiness, cost estimating (realistic & accurate), technical readiness and progress meetings & final reporting.
Key outcomes included;
• Determining that there is good governance to effectively manage the project, including role definition, such as the superintendent role and other key positions.
• Determining whether the project is commercially ready to commence construction, noting the contract is DBOM, with a 100% design hold point.
• Determining whether the cost estimates for the project are suitably transparent to Unitywater and indicative of realistic pricing, particularly for the construction phase.
• Determining whether the project is technically ready to commence construction and whether the design is fit for its purpose.
