The RSPCA sought to develop a new Animal Care Centre near Toowoomba, situated within 1.5 hectares with space for future expansion.

Project Overview

The facility features spacious kennels with room for up to 200 animals, as well as the capacity to care for horses and small livestock. Additionally, it includes a rehabilitation area for animals seized by RSPCA QLD’s Inspectorate; the region’s first triage facility for treating injured and recovering wildlife, allowing RSPCA to hold and assess rescued koalas; an RSPCA World for Pets store; grooming and hydro bath facility; boarding facilities; new theatrette; conference building and facilities a new cafe and gift shop; and landscaping works.

Our Role

The RP Infrastructure (RPI) team provided Project Management and Superintendent’s Representative services for the construction of the new Centre. We undertook comprehensive value management exercises with the client as the scope required several changes to fit within the budget. Our team played a crucial role in successfully completing the specialised fit-out works and took on project management responsibilities halfway through the process. They were also responsible for supplying and installing a 550kV generator which was delivered on time and within budget.

Future development plans for the facility include a fully equipped veterinary hospital, with the shell building for the clinic completed.
